Dear Principal, Teachers, Old Boys, Students, and Honoured Guests,
As we commemorate the 165th anniversary of St. Xavier’s College, Nuwara Eliya, we reflect on a legacy that began in 1859 with just 33 students and a single teacher. From these modest beginnings, our institution has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most esteemed bilingual boys’ schools, steadfastly upholding the values of “God, Truth, and Charity.”
Today, we take immense pride in honoring one of our distinguished alumni on his appointment as the Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education. His achievements exemplify the excellence that St. Xavier’s has nurtured over the decades.
Our journey has not been without challenges. There were times when the school faced neglect, yet the unwavering dedication of our alumni has been instrumental in its revival. The recent appointment of an alumnus as principal marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to restore the school to its former glory. Together, we have initiated numerous projects aimed at enhancing educational standards and facilities, ensuring that future generations receive the quality education that is our hallmark.
As we celebrate this historic occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to the mission of St. Xavier’s College. May we continue to work collaboratively, fostering an environment where young minds are nurtured, values are instilled, and leaders are shaped.
Thank you, and may St. Xavier’s College continue to shine brightly, inspiring excellence and integrity in all who pass through its halls.
With warm regards,
