School Assembly

On the 6th of February 2024, St. Xavier’s College Assembly was honored by the distinguished presence of Mr. Lasantha Abeyratne, the Zonal Director of Education. Amidst a gathering of esteemed old boys, dedicated teachers, and eager students, Mr. Abeyratne lauded the Old Boys’ Association (OBA) for their remarkable 76-year legacy of dedication and commitment.

During his address, Mr. Abeyratne expressed deep admiration for the tireless endeavors of the OBA, spotlighting their exceptional contributions not only to the College but also to the broader community. He emphasized the pivotal role that the St. Xavier’s OBA plays as a beacon of excellence and service, moulding the educational landscape and nurturing growth within the community.

Promoting unity and collaborative action, Mr. Abeyratne encouraged both staff members and students to actively engage in the school’s advancement, highlighting the significance of working together towards common objectives.

Moreover, Mr. Abeyratne graciously recognized the generosity of OBA members in providing scholarships and cutting-edge computers for the College. He noted that their benevolent contributions significantly enhance educational opportunities and resources, paving the way for academic excellence and innovation among students.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Abeyratne reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration and unwavering dedication to the school’s upliftment. He underscored the transformative impact that collective engagement can have on the educational journey of students and the broader community, inspiring all present to continue their efforts towards a brighter future for St. Xavier’s College.

Two state-of-the-art HP 24″ desktop computers, valued at over Rs. 500,000 were graciously donated to the College during the Assembly on February 6th, 2024. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Suren Swaminathan, the esteemed Senior Advisor of the Old Boys’ Association (OBA), for his exceptionally generous contribution.

The presentation ceremony was honoured by the esteemed presence of key figures including Mr. Lasantha Abeyratne, the Director of Education, Mr. Mathew Paulraj, the Principal, and Mrs. Gunasekara, the Sectional Head. Additionally, notable attendees included Mr. RM Nawaz, the OBA Past President, Mr. Paul Perera, another distinguished Senior Advisor, and prominent Old Xaverains such as C. Emmanuel, Mahinda Silva, V. Vadivel, Milan Tunnard, Kaluarachchi, Travis Boulton, Subash Gorden (Colombo Branch), Dammika Wahindara, Richard Tunnard, and Logeshwaran.

The event was further graced by the presence of the diligent teachers and enthusiastic students of the College, as well as the OBA Secretary, Mr. Benjamin Jeganathan. This significant donation marks a milestone in our journey towards educational excellence, empowering our institution with cutting-edge technology to enhance learning experiences for all.
