OBA Delegation at the Ministry of Education-Central Province

Following the OBA correspondence with the Governor of the Central Province His Excellency Lalith U.Gamage, members of the St Xavier’s OBA met the Chief Secretary of the Province Mr.Ajith Premasinghe who summoned the Principal of the College and officials of the educational authority for a discussion on the 5th January 2023 .The main objective of the discussion was to discuss matters pertaining to the revival of St Xavier’s College for the benefit of the younger generation. Several issues that has brought the standard of the College to a low ebb were discussed, and the Old Boy’s stressed the fact that the prestige glory of the College should be restored. With the assurance of the CP Secretary to hold an impartial inquiry into the allegations made by parents and public of Nuwara Eliya against the mal administration of the College , it was suggested to appoint a sub committee to work with the College. Old Xaverian U.C. Emmanuel was unanimously appointed to coordinate the proceedings and call for a meeting of all old boys irrespective of differences at the College premises. It was also stressed that the registered OBA will continue as an independent body. Further , the OBA members presented the project plan for 2023 that included the proposal of the construction of a two story building, scholarships, sports, extra curricular activities and education activities for the present students and teachers.

Messrs. Srinath Wickramasinghe, Benjamin Jeganathan, RM Nawaz, John Christopher, UC Emmanuel and Michael de Silva represented the OBA. The Bishop of Kandy His Lordship Rt.Rev.Dr.Valance Mendis was also apprised of the progress of this endeavour
